Alyson Puckerman | 16 | Sophomore

Alyson prides herself on being perfect. Head Cheerleader and Caption of the Celibacy Club, just like her mother. She feels her life is perfect and that nothing can wreck it. That was until she starts developing feelings for BFF Arianna. Desperate to rid herself of these feelings, she starts avoiding Ari, and starts dating Dylan Evans.

Dylan looked at Alyson from the ground. “Do you know Ellie Anderson?” he asked her. That question was incredibly stupid. The Andersons, Puckermans, Evans and Hudsons had been playing in the sandbox together when they were little. Of course Aly knew Ellie. And that’s what made this so much harder. But, something was telling Dylan that Aly wouldn’t be nearly as angry as he was thinking.

Dylan looked Aly right in the eye and blurted out the truth. “I kissed her,” he said, quickly. “She told me that she’s liked me since we were kids and I kissed her and I couldn’t stop.” He thought about his time with Ellie. He thought about the hickeys that she’d been hiding from everyone. He thought about her starving herself for his attention. The remorse was starting to kick in again. But, he never took his eyes off of Aly, waiting for her reaction.

“Of course I know Ellie.” She laughed but it died down pretty quickly. Normally she would have cried, said rude things and gotten up and left. That’s how it always went with boys who dared to cheat on Alyson Puckerman. But this time it didn’t go that way. Because she had been cheating too. “I-It’s funny you say that. Um… Dylan. I might have kissed somebody too.”

She opened her mouth to say something else but her eyes went to the ground, she couldn’t look at him any longer without crying. “It’s just not going to be the person you would think of. Ever.” She shook her head. “I’m really sorry Dylan.”

At the sound of his name, Dylan jumped a little, turning to find Aly. He smiled slightly and held her hand. The fear still was no where to be seen. He let the smile fall into his eyes. Truthfully, he was happy to see Alyson. He may not have liked her in the way that boys usually like their girlfriends, but they were friends, at least. He trusted her. “Hey, Aly,” he responded warmly.

He inhaled slowly, trying to compose his thoughts. “Before you say anything, I need to tell you something,” he said. “Something I’m not very proud of.” He let the rest of his air out and turned away, looking at the dirt in front of him. “I’ve been lying to you.”

A smile spread across her face and she leaned against him lightly. The smile continued up until she heard his statement. “Um… That really, really doesn’t sound good.” Hm, her thoughts started scrambling. Maybe she should be truthful with Dylan. Maybe he would understand everything after all. Well, that was only a maybe.

Taking chances. She had to. She took in a deep breath and bit her lower lip. “I’ve been lying to you too.” Odd enough, she never really felt bad about it though. Which actually made her feel worse. Using Dylan to keep up her popularity status was an awful thing to do. But since when did Alyson care? Always, she always did. Even if it never seemed like it.
